Hip replacement surgery can often be avoided or at least delayed if you work on the right exercises at the right time!!!

People often go into hip replacement surgery too soon without going through proper glute strength and coordination development to take pressure off the hip joint.

Exercises are usually too focused on being exhaustive and working all muscles in the area rather than just the muscles that are weakest.

In this video, Dr. David demonstrates and explains the Top 4 Exercises To Delay And Possibly Avoid A Hip Replacement Surgery

Thank you so much. Your videos and in particular this one are very helpful in reducing the pain in my hip. Your exercises are more practical and more productive than any my chiropractor has advised. A big thanks from the UK.

I am 25 and have to wait a decade for my replacement. My guy can you make a whole series on this? This would literally be life changing for me and I appreciate the fact you made this for me so much. Plus genuinely the entire PT YouTube community.

@TwoCatsUp says:

Regarding the hip fidgeting, should we be bringing our legs completely together or is that not recommended? I've tried both ways and def. experience more fatigue when I bring my knees completely together, closing the gap entirely between my legs. I look forward to your prompt reply.

So much of what you are saying makes perfect sense, and also supports what I have been saying for ages!! Hip replacement surgery is NOT a magic bullet, and if the issues arise largely due to weak muscles, they are still going to be issues after surgery! In my case, at the end of COVID19 lockdown when I could finally see my physio (he’s amazing!), he told me that all the fascia had become stuck together, due in large part to inadequate hydration and too much time sitting at my computer. In addition, the glute muscles, hip flexor, piriformis, etc had all locked up. Further complicating matters, I have a large bone spur on the inside of my knee that looks like calcification of the insertion of the muscle, and also I have a number of large lipomas distributed around my thigh, some of which feel like they are entangled in the muscle. I also have frequent issues with the sacroiliac joint, which seems to go out of alignment and affects my hip and knee.

More recently I discovered an amazing woman doing myofascial release massage, which has been so beneficial for unlocking the muscles around my hip – also revealing just how weak they have become! So now I am embarking upon the work of strengthening the muscles and restoring mobility and independence. Your work on this gives me so much hope!! 🥳

Bending my knee hurts the front of my thigh and bad pain on out side of leg ,I think its bursitis.

Does this work for hip AVN patients as well? I have a stage 3 AVN in my right hip

I was scheduled for a hip replacement in May. I canceled the surgery because I would lose 2 months of pay. I'm 74 and still have to work 25 hrs a week and can't afford to lose the pay check. You have no idea how your videos have helped! THANK YOU! God bless.💕

@Ponder-cl5nm says:

I was told I need hip surgery but because of insurance considerations I had to do limited physical therapy sessions first…Which I did…They never gave me these exercises but others that did not do a bit of good! Yours have helped immediately. It made me wonder. as the PT Department is part of the hospital where my hip surgery is to be performed. if this was intentional as, if my hip improved, the surgery would not be necessary. Is there a financial consideration here on the part of the hospital?

@ladyfermenter-ThanksAPint says:

Is it normal to have pain when you start these exercises?

@Sun-gz6um says:

Thank you. Bridge exercises are also help to strengthen the glutes. Using a high foot rest while sitting on a chair is relaxing the hip flexors.

@angiebananuka8267 says:

Glad i found your page….but i hear clicks when i try the exercise
