WHAT IS SCIATICA?
First things first, let’s clarify exactly what sciatica is. The numbness, tingling, and pain is actually not a diagnosis on its own, but rather symptoms that are caused by the compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve. This can result in radiating pain from your lower back down into your hip and leg.

COMMON CAUSES OF SCIATIC NERVE PAIN
There are several factors can contribute to sciatica (or sciatic nerve symptoms), such as herniated discs, bulged discs, spinal stenosis, arthritis, and degenerative disc disease (DDD). The exercises presented in this video work best for the two most-common causes of sciatica – bulged discs and DDD/stenosis.

HOW TO TREAT SCIATICA
So what’s the best way to treat sciatica? Our primary approach involves exercises. The right movements can alleviate pressure on the sciatic nerve, bringing amazing relief. In this video I’ll guide you through a range of stretches and exercises aimed at treating your sciatica pain.

CENTRALIZATION and PERIPHERALIZATION
Any exercise or stretch you do that causes symptoms to decrease or to move up your leg (i.e. from your knee to your hip) is a good thing and should be repeated. Conversely if you perform an exercise or activity that causes your symptoms to intensify or travel further down your leg (i.e. from your hip to your knee), that’s a sign that we’re increasing stress on the nerve and we should avoid that activity.

K. Bethk. says:

Is there a recommendation to ice or heat before or after stretching?

Theresa w says:

Thank you I feel better!

Marissa Volcansek says:

Had pain all day, did one round, and felt so much better. I'm going to add these to my morning routine.

giovanni domenech says:

I tried your 8 minute routine and it was life changing! Thanks ❤

Peter Lipsett says:

As someone who struggles in this area, these exercises are great. As are your other ones on the subject. The first exercise is excellent, once you can get to it and the vertical leg extension with foot elevation as well. The compression release as well.
Keep up the good work.

Aswin pradeep says:

Sir can you do a stretching and strengthening exercises on rotated pelvis

Suresh says:

Great exercises, can u also post some atlas/axis correction exercises(c1/c2 vertebrae)?

J Espinoza says:

I’m 33 and have been dealing with this pain for going on two weeks. Today I’m going to faithfully go through this routine everyday

NIKITA says:

I tried your eight minutes stretching routine. It is simple and really helpful. I was watching your video on strengthening core muscles but couldn't comfortably do much of it because I have FSHD. Can you share some videos on how to strengthen the core, legs and upper body for people who have fshd. That will be really helpful.

Ria Castro says:

All of your videos have helped me and, most probably, others suffering like me. Having DDD is really the worst, and your videos have eased most of my pain. Thank you, and please continue helping people like me suffering from this disease.

Mahesh Swain says:

Thanks for this amazing exercise routines

RHB says:

If you have a pinched nerve these exercises will make it worse. Malpractice.

Kyle Jenkins says:

So far the (Decompression) part is new for me and after one time my pain in my leg has shifted further away from behind my knee cap to only being mildly uncomfortable in the upper back of the leg. I've had a Sciatic issue for four years and am in my early 30's and started doing your "8 minute Flexibility stretching routine" which did help a lot, but the added decompression is so far removing pained areas for longer periods of time. I will update this later.

Ceasar Montesclaros Jr. says:

Will these exercises also be good for people with injury to the sacro-iliac joint/ilio-lumbar joint?

Resapz says:

Saved 2 of your videos yesterday and now I see this one I hope it left my lower left back/glute/hip/nerve going down my left leg

TheSundevil09 says:

What if I have nothing but hamstring pain and tightness? Feels like a pulled muscle but I know it's the nerve cause it shoots down to calf and heel of the foot.

donroka1 says:

When I do a bird dog or straight leg kick up in my left leg I feel shaking, last year i had in that same leg maybe 15 20 days of shaking and it stopped, but I have l5 s1 narrowing disc and I had butt pain, back pain almost never, this "shaking" of my left leg started since I returned to gym after 5 months of swimming, and i did hamstring and glute aggressive stretches, it pisses me of that I can not figure why it is happening, can you give me some idea ?

Vita Maria DeBellis says:

Yep, this subject hits the needs!!! Ty
