Today I will be talking about what hip arthritis is, where most people have pain and a few things to know when you have hip arthritis…
1. Don’t hit extremes of motion
2. Avoid high impact activities such as running and jumping
3. Don’t do knee to chest or diagonal knee to chest stretches
4. Don’t bend at the waist aggressively
5. Do wear shock absorbing insoles
6. Do strengthen what you can around the hip

Kimmys Kitchen and Garden says:

my doctor told me I can still run with hip arthritis, I just have to strengthen the musicals around the hip and try not to run on concrete. 🤔

Star Dog says:

I have arthritis & hip impingement. I feel odd like my whole body is off could this issue effect the whole body? I have had a complete blood panel so there are no other issues other than my hip? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Tar Mach says:

Yes, that pinch! I thought it was because I WASN’T flexible enough….I never liked those stretches anyway. Now I’m reading the comments, you have a stretch DO video? I must find that one. Newly diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the left hip after I complained to my doc about intermittent hip pain that would nearly knock my socks off. It started very gradually over the course of a month or two. I do run, and feel my weight is a factor combined with rolling my ankles several times over the years. Wear and tear indeed! Time to change things and rehab it, and some change in supplements too. Glad I found your video. Thank you!

Vinay sharma says:

loonylinda says:

why does hip arthritis cause a burning pain down front large muscle and into inside of knee?

Steven Law says:

Can I walk and use the bike at the gym and what can’t I do at the gym?

Edgar Acevedo says:

Running? I can hardly walk 3 blocks but started using a cane. The knee to chest stretch I've been doing and learned from a video I saw that a Physical Therapist demonstrated. You are right I have been feeling a pinch so I will stop doing that one.

Neil P says:

Good advice but the lighting is distractingly bad

JustAguyNamedRob says:

Would avoiding stairs be recommended? Or would this help overall strength?

Kimpossible says:

So I was diagnosed with inner hip arthritis with bone Spurs I’m 55 I had a first time and only one time seizure a year ago when I was havinga mri done I couldn’t lay still the pain was so bad and they were like yeah you have hip arthritis with bone Spurs well I don’t have health ins can’t afford it it was wondering do you think a good cortisone injection would help I’m so depressed I feel I have no quality of life I’m so sad 😭 thank you

Frank Wolf says:

Hello, I appreciate the info. Many PTs and orthopedic doctors explicitly recommend these stretches – especially in hip osteoarthritis videos. I cannot figure out why you or the others would be right. So is there any more mechanistic explanation around this? Or even quantitative research backing up any of those claims? What I recently read is, that increased ROM is associated with less pain, and as these stretches (if gently executed) help increase ROM, I would think it would be positive to do them. Thank you.

petulia67 says:

Why is anyone talking about being a runner with hip arthritis? What does someone with bone on bone do to help groin pain?

Albert Mag says:

I'm 67 worked very hard all my life and now paying for it I guess My hip is so tender if it gets much worse I may need a wheelchair…When I get up to pee every night It's so painful I almost can't make it. I sleep with my back propped up and pillows under my feet and knees. I do have an appointment with a surgeon coming up soon. Been waiting about 20 months for a hip transplant. I live in Vancouver B.C..

Vince Lombardi says:

I have hip arthritis and knee arthritis but still running competitively. The strength training is what keeps me going.

Ms. Sharon. says:

Getting shoe or boots can be very painful, sitting on the toilet, and getting in and out of the car. I’m in my early 60’s diagnosed with a Osteoarthritis in my hip. With covid hitting everywhere doctors have waiting lists, in the meantime I’m on anti inflammatories and pain killers. I’m tired of feeling and walking disabled. I have a stationary bike I do a few times per wk. sadly so many f us are going through this. What advice can you give for cortisone shots in the hip? Thanks from Montreal.

The Lexie Wilson - Manifestation Teacher says:

Thank you! I’m only 35 but I have this and it’s been really tough. So thank you!

Manson Cheung says:

But should I do exercises that improve range of motion? I believe that more range of motion means less pain.

Brian Grace says:

Not sure we agree with these don't stretches, as long as you do all of them.

blockmasterscott says:

How about a stationary bike?
